Bathroom
It all started with a toilet that rocked a bit when you sat on it...
... so I tried to tighten it. Turns out the mounting bolts had broken off.
So I had to pull the toilet to attach new ones....
Turns out the porcelain base had cracked - leaking into the subfloor which
was now soft and spongy. Since the tile floor was in such bad shape, the only
good option was to replace the whole floor.
While I'm at it, why not just redo the entire bathroom? After all, the plaster
walls had this ugly tile pattern etched into them, the wallpaper was horrible,
and the vanity was falling apart...
The room is tiny, so it was actually quite hard to take pictures of the final
product, but here we go:

Here's a shot of the fina product. Didn't do
any major reorganization -- not that it was really an option in this small
space. |

Another shot of the final product, from a slightly
lower angle. |

Here is the one major improvement I made. I opened
up the wall into the attic space and put in this recessed shelving. It gives
us a great place to store towels & sheats. A huge improvement to those
under-the-bed storage bins we had been using. |

The new sink & medicine cabinet from the
opposite angle. |

This shot shows the new light fixture. I ended
up mis-measuring when placing the medicine cabinet and the globes hung too
low. I had to raise the light up by only half an inch, but what a pain! |
